During his research in the university laboratory, MONTERANC's founder—then a medical student—discovered that the purity of ingredients is what defines true efficacy. Unlike pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, commercially available cosmetic ingredients showed significantly lower purity and reduced concentrations of active components.

This discovery ignited a pure passion to create cosmetics using only the highest-quality materials, marking the first step in establishing MONTERANC's brand identity: an unwavering commitment to premium ingredients only.

Back then, the cosmetics market didn't pay much attention to ingredient purity or effectiveness. The idea of 'dermaceuticals' in skincare was rarely known, and most beauty brands stuck with traditional ingredients, celebrity endorsements, and flashy packaging instead of taking the risk to try innovative actives. This is because the calculations become complicated when beauty brands try to profit from cosmetic manufacturing.

However, MONTERANC was not created for mass commercial purposes for many years and was exclusively shared within a close-knit community, which allowed the freedom to passionately channel innovation and develop groundbreaking products.

In time, MONTERANC’s innovations spread beyond the founder’s circle, gaining word-of-mouth momentum in Gangnam and leading to overwhelming demand. This marked the first commercialization of MONTERANC Volumefilling.
